Procurement engineer

Specifically, as a member of one of our R&D teams, we are looking for a procurement engineer with strong abilities to manage priorities, understand complex technical issues and a problem solving mindset. She/he'll work with the R&D team to specify the procurement needs and will be in charge of procuring off-the-shelf and custom-made parts for the on-site construction of first-of-a-kind machines in compliance with cost, quality and time.

Responsibilities

  • Together with the R&D team members that express needs for technical purchase requests, write bills of specifications for off-the-shelf and custom-made products

  • Give inputs based on supply chain opportunities and/or technological enhancements to be taken into account for new design/process improvements

  • Provide market analysis, specification & supplier development, defining sourcing test plans and execution supplier management

  • Investigate and propose new supply sources when needed and/or to challenge actual suppliers

  • Qualify the suppliers in collaboration with the Buyer

  • Work with suppliers to define highly accurate technical requirements to guarantee that the procured product meets quality, reliability, cost, yield and manufacturability requirements

  • Pass the baton to the Buyer for price and lead-time negotiations, and for the actual purchase

  • Lead investigation of component/material quality issues as they arise and be the privileged point of contact for suppliers in case of non-compliance or if optimization of the product is required

  • Ensure compliance with RF’s supply-chain processes and policies and give feedback and suggestions to the buyer to support continuous improvement (workflow efficiencies)

Qualifications -essential:

  • Engineer Master degree with broad technical background (mechanical, electrical, vacuum etc.)

  • 3+ years in product development and high-tech environment

  • Experience with supplier management

  • Technical documentation/CAD knowledge

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • Fluent in English (C1)

Qualifications -desirable:

  • Experience with the American Society for Testing of Materials (ASTM) standards and their relationship to manufacturing processes

  • Working methods imposed by a quality system
