Physics laboratory technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic technician to support the growth of our team and associated experimental activities.
Responsibilities
As a member of the MVC (Magnet, Vacuum, Cryogenics) team, your role is to assist the engineers in their experimental activities:
*Characterization of High-Temperature Superconducting tapes:
Prepare samples
Characterize electro-mechanical properties of samples (e.g. critical current, n-value, tensile strength)
Improve existing and develop new measuring stages
*Coil assembly for superconducting magnets:
Develop :
o tooling instruments for coil and magnet assembly
o winding techniques and related tools
o soldering techniques for HTS joints (e.g. Bismuth-Tin)
Assembly, commission and test the magnets
*Development of measurement/diagnostic systems for superconducting magnets:
Select standard sensors (temperature, voltage, current, magnetic field, optical fibers, arrays antennas) for magnet monitoring
Install sensors in magnets
Develop tools (movable systems) to take measurements
Configure and run the data acquisition systems and real-time synchronization
Analyse data
Measure the overall electromagnetic performance of magnets
Qualifications -essential:
Bachelor’s degree or High school’s + equivalent experience in physics or related fields
Experience in a physics lab and/or R&D workshop
Computer skills (Windows and Office package)
Labview
Knowledge of methods for characterising materials
Knowledge of quality standards
Fluent in English (B2/C1)
Qualifications -desirable:
Knowledge of cryogenics, superconductivity and vacuum physical properties
Ability to learn
Reliable and autonomous
Safety conscious
Rigorous, concerned with quality
Resourceful
Skilful with her/his hands
