If a potentially good or excellent match, we will contact you within 1 week from applying.
We are looking for a talented, energetic, resourceful numerical modeler of liquid metal Magnetohydrodynamics to predict, interpret and optimize free-surface liquid metal experiments and their interplay with fusion plasmas and solid objects, as well as with magnetic fields, temperature gradients etc.
Responsibilities
Individual responsibilities:
- Numerical modeling of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows relevant to stellarator design such as: duct and open-channel flows, particle transport, wall-bounded MHD turbulence subject to heat and/or mass transfers, magnetic field gradients etc.
- Provide expertise and critical analysis of numerical results to give insight on the relevant physical mechanisms at stake – Setup and sustain external collaborations with academic and/or industrial partners on computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) topics.
- Define technical solution to meet process engineer’s specifications.
Responsibilities as a team member
- Assist mechanical engineers and experimentalists in the design (geometry, flow regimes…) of stellarator parts and in-house experiments.
Qualifications -essential:
- PhD in mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, computational science or related field
- 3+ years experience in numerical modeling of magnetohydrodynamic flows
- 3+ years hands on experience with a CFD software such as ANSYS/HIMAG/openfoam or equivalent
- Free-surface and multiphase flows modeling, turbulence closing schemes, heat and mass transfers
