Group leader vessel & structures

We are looking for an unifying and ingenious Group leader of Vessel & structures to manage the activities of the vessel & structures group and supervise the detailed design, construction, testing, assembly and operation of the vacuum vessel and cryostat, together with their ports and support structures.

Responsibilities

Design & analysis

  • Coordinate the detailed design of the vacuum vessels and their ports, support structures and thermal shields, and their integration in the machine, for example with the cryostat.

  • Lead the analysis of the structural behavior of the vacuum vessel, cryostat and their penetrations under operational and abnormal conditions.

  • Lead the analysis of the electromagnetic and thermal behavior of the vacuum vessel and coordinate with the cryogenics group on the cryostat structures and their thermal shields.

  • Supervise the definition of technical solutions, materials, welding techniques, sealing systems, interfaces, required qualification work and fabrication/assembly techniques.

  • Lead the CAD designs and development of the technical specification documents.

Manufacturing/Assembly/Testing

  • Manage the in-house or outsourced construction of the vacuum vessel and related parts, followed by their assembly. Coordinate with the cryogenics group on the construction of the cryostat and thermal shields.

  • Supervise the selection of subcontractors and monitor cost and schedule with the PMO.

  • Coordinate the assembly, testing and commissioning activities.

Team management

  • Be the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within his/her team, and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference and unified force) and policies.

Scientific outcome

  • Coordinate the writing, review and approval of patents and scientific papers.

  • Prepare scientific reports (presentations, posters, etc.) and represent RF to scientific conferences and workshops.

  • Remain on the lookout for any scientific developments in his/her field of expertise.

Qualifications -essential:

  • PhD or Master’s degree + equivalent experience in mechanical/nuclear engineering, electro-mechanical or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and/or analysis and/or construction.

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and preparation of technical specifications.

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical leader/coordinator and/or project management.

  • Competence with SolidWorks or ANSYS or other computational software.

  • Project management from design to assembly.

  • Previous experience in management of design activities, manufacturing contracts and assembly, preferably on vacuum vessel design and construction.

  • Knowledge with Eurofer 97, F82H and other special structural alloys, preferably of low activation is an asset.

Qualifications -desirable:

  • Previous experience in the heavy mechanical industry or high-tech laboratories.

  • Knowledge (B1 or higher) of French.
