A historic milestone: Renaissance Fusion’s attempt to levitate hot liquid metal at fusion-relevant temperatures

Join us live on YouTube on October 30 for Destination Stellarator : a key experiment aimed at testing together two of Renaissance Fusion’s technology pillars.

On October 30, Renaissance Fusion will unveil the results of its attempt to levitate hot liquid metal at fusion-relevant temperatures in a circular melting chamber, using HTS magnets and an electric current. Broadcast live, the Destination Stellarator event will decipher the outcome of the experiment bringing two of our technological pillars together for the very first time: flowing liquid metal walls and complex superconducting magnetic fields.

If successful, the event will mark a historic milestone, as today’s fusion devices rely on solid internal walls to contain plasma – materials that erode quickly and must be replaced often, which is a perilous task.
